One of the quietest forms of growth is realising that you don't have to explain yourself to everyone.
For years, we explain:
Why we made a choice.
Why we changed.
Why we said no.
Why we walked away.
Why something mattered to us.
Not because we owe everyone an explanation, but because we want to be understood.
And there is nothing wrong with that.
But there comes a point when you learn the difference between communicating and proving yourself.
Communicate when it can create clarity.
Apologise when you are wrong.
Take responsibility when you've hurt someone.
But don't turn your life into a constant defence of who you are.
Some people will understand you.
Some won't.
And some have already formed their opinion before hearing your side.
You don't have to chase every misunderstanding.
You can let people have their version of you while you remain grounded in your own truth.
The freedom isn't in becoming indifferent.
It's in becoming secure enough to know:
“I don't need everyone to understand me for me to be at peace with myself.”
Perhaps growing up is partly learning when to explain…
…and when to simply move forward.
